Show Eleven: "The Axarcomedy Comedy Show" 27th January 2006, Unplugged, Nerja Yikes! What the hell happened? Just when you think you've got the formula sussed, up pops reality and wipes a bogie on your favourite tie. The first half of the show felt an awful lot like having a roomful of people stare at us for half an hour. Fortunately we picked it up in the second half and just about managed to save the day (I think) although finishing with a very dark Fred West sketch probably didn't help. (Incidentally we got our very first Axarcomedy complaint about said sketch by an audience member who thought that Fred raped babies - obviously someone getting their murderers mixed up - that was Alan Webster, you big freak!) A number of factors probably contributed to the early iciness of the crowd: the weather was minging and the bar was half empty (unusual for us) because it had only just been re-opened after an enforced closure by the local authorities and lots of the regular crowd assumed the show would be canceled. Ho hum. So, all in all, not a great night for the crowd but a good lesson for us about how not to become complacent. And we have to lose that depressing end of show song.
